Tuck It In!

Posted on

The tummy area is a very common problem among our patients here at the Plastic Surgery of Shreveport and no matter how normal and proportional your body may be, there are some factors that can result in the sagging and protrusion of your abdomen.  The abdomen area can sag due to pregnancy, normal results of aging, drastic weight fluctuations, genetic predisposition, and any previous surgeries.  People find that no matter how much they try to flatten their belly, they still will not be able to completely achieve the perfect figure because of the loose skin.  Tummy tucks or abdominoplasty are the prefect procedure to get rid of the excess skin and fat as well as restore the weak and separated muscles.  This will result in a younger and trimmer abdomen profile.

How is a tummy tuck done?  The procedure will begin by administering anesthesia to the patient, either intravenous or general anesthesia.  An incision will be made in between the navel and the pubic hairline where your doctor will repair the weakened abdominal muscles by suturing them together. After which any excess fat tissues and skin will be removed.  Should there be a need to remove any excess skin on the upper abdomen your doctor will make an incision around the navel.  After the desired abdomen profile is achieved, your doctor will finish the procedure with using sutures or skin adhesives to close the incisions.  After a week or two after the procedure, patients can enjoy a firmer and flatter abdominal contour which is more appropriate to their frame.

Say Bye to Fat, Fast!

Both men and women desire to have that svelte and fit figure.  I always advise my patients that maintaining a healthy lifestyle, healthy diet and exercise is important to achieving the perfect figure.  Unfortunately, due the demands of work and family, people rarely have time to hit the gym or jog in the morning before their busy day starts.  So for patients who want to get rid of stubborn fat in their body, liposuction can be a good option to consider.  Liposuction or lipoplasty is a guaranteed way of getting rid of fat in different areas of your body without the hassle.  This can be used to reshape and slim problem areas in your body by removing the excess fat.  After each procedure, the improvement in the contour and shape of the body is remarkable and can help in increasing the patient’s self-confidence and positive self-image.

What is a liposuction procedure like in Plastic Surgery of Shreveport?  A consultation will be conducted to assess your current health to determine if you are physically fit to undergo this procedure.  The procedure starts with administering anesthesia to make the entire procedure comfortable for the patient.  A small incision will be made to create an access point for the canula.  This will be inserted and will be rocked back and forth to loosen the fat.  The loosened fat will be suctioned out by a surgical vacuum or a syringe that is attached to the canula.  Patients may experience some swelling in the treatment areas, but they can appreciate the significant change in their body contour once this goes down.

Younger-Looking You with Restylane

Posted on

Everybody wants to look younger!  But with all the beauty products out in the market, it’s impossible to know which products are good for you and will do the job with the least side effects.  We all want a natural solution to make us look better and feel younger.

The Plastic Surgery of Shreveport has just what you need!  Restylane is an all-natural solution for your beauty woes.  It’s a crystal gel that is injected in the skin that contains hyaluronic acid that we have in bodies naturally.  This eliminates any chance of complications such as hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.  Restylane can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, improve a patient’s facial contour, create fuller lips, and improve the skin’s elasticity and structure through its hydrating properties.  Restylane is becoming very popular because it does all these things without affecting the facial expression and the patient’s facial movement.

What is done when getting a Restylane treatment?  Each session takes about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of areas that the patients want to treat.  Anesthesia will be used to numb the area and Restylane will be injected through a very fine needle into the patient’s skin to fill wrinkles and lines, to add volume to a certain problem area, or to improve the contours of the face and the lips.  Restylane is naturally degraded by the body so there would be a need to repeat the treatment if a patient would want to maintain the results.  The results are expected to last for about 6 to 12 months and patients can immediately appreciate the change right after each procedure.

Schedule a consultation with Dr. Paul M. Davis and see how Restylane can help you achieve that youthful glow!  Call us today at (318) 797 – 9199.

Feel Brand New

I have high respect for those who have won their battle against breast cancer and I understand how much they have gone through emotionally and physically.  Although, their fight has made them stronger individuals, I would like to do my part in making them feel proud of what they have done and restore the self-image and confidence that they may have lost because of their mastectomy.  If a patient lost their breast, breast reconstruction will be a good procedure to consider.  Breast reconstruction is literally rebuilding the breasts with the use of implants or relocated flaps from the patient’s own tissue and can include a reconstruction of an areola if the patient wishes that too.

What are the techniques that we use at Plastic Surgery of Shreveport to reconstruct the breasts?  First, we use tissue expander breast implants where we will insert a tissue expander under a pocket made from the muscles in your chest.  This will then be expanded by injecting saline solution until the desired size is achieved.  This is the most common technique that we use and has faster recovery time.  If a patient has very little tissue left in the chest cavity, we use the flap construction technique.  This is done by harvesting tissues from the patient’s own back, buttocks, abdomen, or thighs.

After breast reconstruction, patients will look as if they have not lost their breasts.  Your new breasts, however, will not have the same sensation as your natural breasts and will not be capable of the normal functions like breastfeeding.

Know about your breast reconstruction options and schedule a consultation with Dr. Paul M. Davis.  Call us today at (318) 797 – 9199 to know more.

Bigger isn’t Always Better

Posted on

It’s very usual to hear my patients in Plastic Surgery of Shreveport wanting to go a size bigger than their breast size and admiring the stars on TV who sport their bikinis with their full sized breasts.  Who wouldn’t want to look that good?  But what people don’t know is that having bigger breasts also has its downside.  When your breasts are not proportional to your figure or frame, it can create problems to your posture that could become worse if the problem is left untreated.

Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is the cosmetic procedure that addresses this concern by surgically reducing the size of your breast by removing any excess fat, skin and glandular tissues.  After the procedure, the patient will have a breast size that is proportional to their body frame and it will alleviate any discomfort that the patient feels because of the excessive weight put on by their large breasts.

How would you know if you should consider getting a breast reduction?  For one, if you think that your breast size is too big in proportion to your body, then you can check with us to see if breast reduction is necessary.  For patients in Shreveport, LA who are starting to have problems with their posture, or experiencing any neck, back, or shoulder pain because of the weight put on by their breasts then breast reduction can be considered.  This is also a good option when one breast is larger than the other and if the nipples are pointing downward due to the size.  You should also consider getting a breast reduction if you feel self-conscious or dissatisfied with the size of your breast or if it’s restricting you from doing activities such as sports etc.

If you want to learn more about breast reduction and how it can help you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Paul M. Davis and call us today at (318) 797 – 9199.

Go Fuller for that Younger Look

Posted on

You can see women taking the lead in companies while balancing the roles between being a wife and a mother.  They are also practicing the liberty of making themselves feel good about themselves and have stopped being dependent on other people to make them happy.  They take charge of their life situations as well as their body.  More and more women understand the power of a good appearance and they have actively taken measures to make themselves look better to ultimately have a better self-image.

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures at Plastic Surgery of Shreveport.  Also called augmentation mammoplasty, this procedure increases the fullness, symmetry and projection of the breasts.  It involves surgically inserting a prosthesis or a silicone bag under the breast and filling the bag with a saline solution.  Once the prosthesis expands it gives the breasts a fuller size and improved contour and symmetry.

I recommend breast augmentation to my patients in Shreveport, LA who want to restore the volume of their breasts because of the negative effects after weight fluctuations, child birth and breast feeding.  Patients who have naturally small breasts also come to our clinic to have their breast augmented.  There are also cases when a breast lift is done together with this procedure if there is breast ptosis or sagging exhibited.  The final result will depend on what is proportional to your body frame as well as how fuller our patient would want to go.  Both are taken into consideration during consultation.

See Dr. Paul M. Davis today and know more about how fuller breasts can improve your appearance and give you a more youthful profile.  Call us today at Plastic Surgery of Shreveport at (318) 797 – 9199 for a consultation.

Do You Need a Lift?

Posted on

I have always had a high regard for women because of their innate beauty and how they are given the opportunity to conceive and bring life into this world.  However, this blessing can take a toll on a woman’s body and a woman is left with sagging breasts after giving birth or breast feeding.  As women age it’s also normal for the breasts to sag due to the decrease in the skin’s elasticity as they reach menopause.  The breast also does this as a natural response to gravity or due to drastic weight changes.

I am a firm believer that making a person look good can contribute much to making them feel better about themselves.  This is why I highly recommend breast lifts or mastopexy to my patients in Shreveport, LA which can help raise sagging breasts and improve their shape and contour.  This is done by removing the excess skin in the breasts and tightening the tissue surrounding it.  Patients can immediately appreciate a more youthful breast profile right after the procedure is completed and they have recovered fully.  This procedure has very little down time for patients and has very few complications.

Breast lifts are a common procedure here at the Plastic Surgery of Shreveport clinic because more and more women realize that this will do wonders to improve their appearance and will make them look younger.  Women are excitedly asking for this procedure because they understand how looking good can make them feel great.
